After months of uncertainty, the PlayStation 5 is finally out in India. IGN India has been able to confirm that most major retailers in the country received their PS5 stocks on February 1 and have begun shipping out orders. In fact, some PS5 buyers have already received their console (owing to their proximity to game stores). If you ordered online however, it would be safe to expect your PS5 by the end of week. Offline retailers have already instructed buyers when to collect their PS5 orders during the course of the day.

PS5 India Day One Pre-Order Certificate

As we reported earlier, those who received the PS5 day one would get a token of appreciation from Sony to commemorate the occasion. According to one pre-order purchase, this ended up being a certificate that you can check out below.

While the rest of the world got Sony’s latest home console in November 2020, Sony opted for a February 2, 2021 PS5 release date for India. This was due to the company not having ownership over the PS5 trademark in the country, this was followed up by filing for BIS — India’s mandatory certification process for electronics — five days after it announced the PS5 India price of Rs. 49,990 for the disc variant and Rs. 39,990 for the digital edition (which Sony has confirmed as delayed).

Nonetheless, pre-orders for the PS5 began in earnest on January 12 and sold out almost instantaneously, with some retailers like Reliance Digital cancelling orders a day later due to limited stocks.

PS5 India Restock Date

Several Sony Centers we spoke to have stated that Sony has not confirmed when the PS5 restocks would be available. At the moment it has not discussed these plans with them. Considering Sony Centers are Sony’s own retailers, it’s quite likely that no restock plans have been discussed with any game store in the country right now.

The PS5 sold out in mere minutes in India and company will not have any more pre-orders for the console. We reached out to Sony for comment and received the following statement via email:

“We are not planning pre-order for PS5 before 2nd February. Please stay in touch with retailers for future pre-order updates.”

To make matters worse, if you missed out on pre-ordering and were dependent on the PS5 restock bot for Telegram, you’re out of luck as its creator has taken it down following derogatory user feedback.
